Steaming: The Problem It Brings On The Poker Table

Losing your temper while playing poker, playing tilt, losing your stance during the game and steaming! This spells out only one result and that’s bad poker!

If your emotions overwhelmed you and it got the way of your intellectual side then you are steaming. This kind of situation is common in poker tables especially if a player is frustrated, angry and would cause someone to make wrong decisions in the game. No one will play tilt if they are on their right mind. People who are on excellent condition don’t do stupid things while playing poker.

His supposed to be bride didn’t attend their wedding, he bumped his car on the driveway because his depressed, he got suspended from his job because he disrespected his employer. A person in this situation cannot make better judgment because he is at his wit’s end.

All poker players are vulnerable to steaming. Our problems even on our personal lives really affects our decision making process. So its really best to avoid playing poker when you are depressed.

You couldn’t stop a person from steaming; it keeps getting worst by the minute once it get started. Here’s a definite sample of a poker player who plays tilt:

Matt started playing with a very superior hand. However, with a stroke of luck the other player beat his card with an underdog hand. Matt is pissed and keeps on asking himself why. During the next hand, Matt got a lose-lose set of cards but make a big bet because his leaning on luck just like the other player. Matt ends up losing and frustrated, blaming the other player and angry to himself for playing a poor hand.

And that’s not all. After 2 loses in a row, you got your composure back and you’re playing well again. Winning a good hand and so on. But after a few hours of having lady luck at your side, another dead beat throws you out again. Then you recall the first dead beat, the play you rejected and the current dead beat; and then you start thinking about your car being repossessed, your wife leaving you with your children and it goes on and on…

And then after more hands you see yourself playing with your whole savings, betting with a large bet 10 times bigger with your normal bet and having a bad hand.
